Paprocanskie Lake (also Paprocany Lake ) - a water reservoir located in the south-western part of Tychy. It is an artificial reservoir created for the needs of Huta Paprocka in 1796. In the years 1986-1992 in the reservoir, reclamation procedures were carried out involving the complete draining of the reservoir, the removal of the sediment and the lowering of the bottom soil by 0.5 m on the area of 110 ha. Currently, it plays a recreational and retention role as a flood protection for the south-eastern districts of the city.
Hydrology
The surface of the lake is 132 ha, the average depth ranges from 150 to 190 cm. The lake is surrounded by forests - forest protection belt GOP. The waters of the Paprocany Lake are fed by the Old Gostynka and small watercourses flowing down from the south. The catchment area of the lake is 20.4 km². The relief of the area near the banks is not very varied. In the retreat part marshy areas developed, constituting a mainstay of waterfowl. The lake plays the role of a recreational area of the first class of purity.
