History

The building occupies the place of three medieval plots. The first Artus Court, properly called " Social House " or "Club House " (the name Artus Court for the name of the building appeared only at the beginning in the seventeenth century) was built in the years 1385-1386. In 1466, the Second Torun Room was signed here. The building was later rebuilt and renovated, especially in the 17th century, when a rich pictorial decoration of the facade was made, where friezes with images of kings from Władysław Jagiełło to Zygmunt III Waza, known from the series of drawings created in 1738-1745 depicting views of Toruń and the surrounding area were placed. by Steiner. The ground floor room has also been reconstructed, including the floor was covered with white and red marble slabs. The interior on the ground floor, divided by two columns, covered the vault.
