Teen cellist Mia Hall (Chloë Grace Moretz) has loving parents Kathleen (Mireille Enos) and Dennis (Joshua Leonard), talent and a musical career ahead of her. She is waiting impatiently to be informed whether she has been admitted to a prestigious university. The girl can count on the support of her beloved - Adam Wilde who plays in a rock band. One day Mia drives with her family to her grandparents. They have a serious accident while traveling. When Hall regains consciousness, she is horrified to discover that her mutilated body is just being transported to the hospital, while she finds herself in a limbo between life and death.
