The Common Daphnia is a highly territorial animal, it leads a daily lifestyle in small social groups consisting of 2-5 females and 1-2 males, in which individuals jointly use burrows and feeding grounds. He builds underground burrows and spends most of his life in them. It has a number of morphological and physiological features that make it easier to lead life underground and in semi-arid conditions prevailing in its range. It uses water in a very effective way (it can survive without access to water even 13 days), its respiratory system has a relatively low reaction to hypoxia, which threatens mammals that stay for a long time underground.
