History

At the site of the hunting lodge there was a castle of the barons of Promnitz mentioned in 1766.

The hunting lodge was built in 1861 in the style of neo-Gothic for Duke Johann Heinrich XI. Hochberg von Pleß (1833-1907) built to a design by the Hochbergschen court architect Oliver Pavelt. After a fire in 1868, it was rebuilt and supplemented. It is a partially interconnected three- storey half-timbered building on a cross -shaped floor plan. In the pitched roofs are dormers. The representation rooms on the ground floor are wood paneled and decorated with hunting trophies. In the hunting grounds there is a neo-Gothic fireplace.

The castle includes a coach house and stable buildings.
