Mezzanine (mezzanine level) - a room (residential, office, warehouse, etc.), one or a few rooms, separated from the ground floor, floor of a residential building or an industrial hall. It is not a separate story.

According to the building law, a mezzanine is the upper part of a storey or room located above an intermediate ceiling separating them with an area smaller than the surface of this storey or room, not closed by building partitions from the interior side, from which it is separated.
