Abhishek Bachchan (born 5 February 1976) is an Indian film actor, producer and playback singer known for his works in Bollywood and Bengali cinema. Part of the Bachchan family, he is the son of actors Amitabh Bachchan, and Jaya Bachchan. He made his screen debut with the 2000 War film, Refugee. Bachchan then essayed "Gurukant Desai" a character loosely based on Dhirubhai Ambani in Mani Ratnam's drama film Guru (2007), premiered at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto, Canada, and "Tous Les Cinemas du Monde" (World Cinema) section of 2007 Cannes Film Festival. He then appeared in Ram Gopal Varma's Godfatheresque, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj (2008) premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, the New York Asian Film Festival, and the 9th IIFA World Premiere-Bangkok. Bachchan then appeared in successful films such as Bunty Aur Babli (2005) Dostana (2008), Bol Bachchan (2012), Dhoom 3 (2013), Happy New Year (2014), and Housefull 3 (2016). In addition to three consecutive Filmfare Awards for his critically acclaimed performances in Yuva (2004), Sarkar (2005), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Bachchan has garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for producing the family dramedy Paa (2009). Since 2007, Bachchan has been married to actress Aishwarya Rai and the couple has a daughter. Bachchan has starred in over 50 films in both lead and supporting roles.
