The largest defensive structure in the world. In its heyday, the building was over 7,600 km long, and about 2,400 km have survived to the present day. The walls of the wall were built of large granite slabs, 6.5 m at the base and 5.6 m wide and 6.6 m high at the top. The wall is equipped with numerous defense towers, watchtowers and storage rooms for ammunition and food. It runs along the ridges of mountain ranges at an altitude of approx. 1000 m above sea level. In 2001, a 500-kilometer section of a wall in Xinjiang was discovered. The site was used until 1996 as a nuclear testing ground. The best-preserved fragment of it is open to visitors in Badaling - a northern suburb of Beijing. It is the only structure on Earth visible from space. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
