A castle in Northeast Scotland on the North Sea near Stonehaven. It is situated on a headland, at the top of the cliffs. Only ruins have survived to our time. The oldest surviving buildings come from the 15th and 16th centuries. The first fortifications were built in this place by the Pikts, later the castle became an important fortress of strategic importance. Its role is evidenced by the fact that the Regalia of Scotland was kept there.
