Formerly owned by Eidos Interactive, followed by Square Enix after the acquisition of Eidos in 2009, the franchise focuses on fictional British archaeologist Lara Croft, who travels around the world in search of missing artefacts and infiltration of dangerous tombs and ruins. The game focuses mainly on exploration of environments using actions and adventures, solving puzzles, navigating in hostile environments filled with traps and fighting with numerous enemies. Additional media grew around the theme in the form of film adaptations, comic books and novels.
