She was born in New York to an American Jewish family. She is the daughter of Michael Trachtenberg, fiber optic engineer, and Lana Trachtenberg, manager at the bank. Her father comes from Germany, and her mother from Russia and Michelle can speak Russian. Her family is celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah [1]. Her grandparents live in Israel. Michelle, along with her older sister Irene, was brought up in Sheepshead Bay in New York's Brooklyn. She attended P.S. 99 Elementary School and The Bay Academy for the Arts and Sciences Junior High School.
