The Wilanów Palace is an important monument to the Polish 17th century artistic culture, the name of the monument comes from the Italian "Villa Nuova". The palace was built in 1677-79 for King Jan Sobieski according to the design of Locci. The palace facade and interiors are decorated with the splendor characteristic of the Baroque period. On the first floor of the Wilanów Palace there is an interesting Gallery of Polish Portrait with images of monarchs, aristocracy and noblemen as well as countrymen meritorious for the country and other important personalities. Inside the palace, you can also visit the bedroom of Jan Sobieski and his beloved wife, Marysieńka, with original furniture and objects. Visiting the palace takes place only with a guide (in museum slippers).
