Cieszynski costume, or Walaski, one of the Silesian folk costumes worn by the ethnographic group of Wałachów Cieszyn, inhabiting a significant area of Cieszyn Silesia. Decorations, cuts and materials testify to the fact that it is a replica of historical costumes, while the tradition of Cieszyn clothing is rooted in the Renaissance. In Cieszyn itself, men's clothing was worn only to the end of the nineteenth century, with the woman's outfit spreading around the Vistula, Koniaków, Istebna, where the costumes of the Silesian Highlanders prevailed before. The Cieszyn women's costume was subject to many changes both in terms of ornamentation and better quality of materials used in its production. Due to its richness and elegance, it quickly became the object of interest of many artists and folklorists.
